- A Google User Added 2017-10-03★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆I always ask for a guestimate about how much they are going to charge me and it is always wrong. Not uncommon for an appointment to cost 50 - 100 more than they said it would. I took my new puppy in because he sounded rattle-y in his chest. The vet took his temp and he didn't have a fever. He was bright and active but they suggested I should take him in for an x-ray. I refused because why would my puppy need an x-ray if he doesn't have a fever and he is active. They charged me around 75$ for a 10 minute consultation. I went to another vet that week (who did not charge me for the visit because my puppy got his shots) and he said my puppy probably just snuffled up some water out of his dish. No x-rays needed.
